Derique Powery Welds
A systems designer who builds the digital infrastructure organisations run on, and rebuilds the process around it.
Derique Powery Welds, known professionally as Derique Powery, designs electronic systems and improves how organisations work. He serves as a police constable with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, and works independently on system design, workflow improvement and process digitisation.
His approach starts with the work itself rather than the software. How does information actually move through the organisation. Where does it stall, duplicate, or depend on one person remembering. What has to be provable later, and what would not currently survive being asked about. Those answers become the specification, and the specification becomes the system.
That discipline comes from investigative work, where the job is to find exactly where information fails. Most systems are designed by people who have never had to defend a record. Knowing how records break is the most useful thing anyone can bring to building one that does not.
Through The Scope Project, his independent practice, Derique works with organisations that have outgrown paper, spreadsheets and habit, and need something built around how they genuinely operate.
